Special Educational Needs and Disabilities

At Havannah Primary School, we believe that every child is unique, every child matters and every child deserves the opportunity to flourish. Our ethos, “Where Individuality Is Nurtured,” is at the heart of everything we do. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive, nurturing and welcoming school where every child is valued, differences are celebrated and individual strengths are recognised. Our OFSTED inspection (October 2024) reported that 'The support that pupils with SEND receive is exemplary...pupils with SEND thrive'.

We are committed to ensuring that all children, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), feel safe, understood and supported to achieve their full potential. We recognise that every child has their own individual needs, interests, strengths and aspirations and we work hard to ensure that each child receives the right support, at the right time to make progress, develop independence and experience success.

Our approach to SEND is underpinned by high expectations, positive relationships and a strong belief that inclusion is everyone’s responsibility. We work in close partnership with parents and carers, children, staff and external professionals to identify needs early, remove barriers to learning and provide appropriate support. Guided by the principles of the SEND Code of Practice (2015), we use a graduated approach of Assess, Plan, Do, Review to ensure provision is responsive to each child’s individual needs. Through collaboration with families, Cheshire East and other services, we strive to ensure that every child receives the right support, in the right place, at the right time, enabling them to feel valued, develop their independence and achieve their full potential.
