Attendance
Cheshire East Council are working with schools to try and improve school attendance because we know that school attendance makes such a big difference to children's futures. The Department for Education tell us 'school is important to your child's achievement, wellbeing and wider development. Evidence shows that the students with the highest attendace throughout their time in school gain the best GCSE and A level results.'
The Education Act 1996 section 444, requires parents and carers to make sure that their children attend school, on time, every time the school is open.
Havannah guidlines regarding absence are:
If you child is ill and not attending school please notify the school office before 8.30am on the first day of absence via the absence line, then notify each further day of absence, unless you know how long your child will be off for and told the school on the first day of absence.
If your child has a medical appointment, please provide a copy of the letter/email to the school in advance.
If you need to take your child out of school for any other reason, you will need to complete a leave of absence request form in advance, and hand into the school office. You will receive this for back with the Head Teachers decission on authorisation.
Time Keeping
School starts at 8.45am, any child arriving after this time will be marked as late and should be brought into school via the school office.
If you children arrive after 9.15am (when the register closes) they will be marked as unauthorised late. 10 unauthorised sessions in a rolling 10 week period may result in the school applying for a fixed term penalty notice. For details of fixed erm penalty notice please see the attachment.
