Year 1 - Mrs Fearn 2023 - 2024
Welcome to Year 1 and to Key Stage 1!
In our class you will find me, Mrs Fearn; Miss Cork; Mrs Skerritt; Miss Brown and 30 wonderful children.
In Year 1, we learn how to be even more independent, be a good friend and citizen; whilst taking on the challenge of a brand new curriculum.
Transition from Reception to Year 1
Our aim is to ensure that the children experience a smooth transition from the Foundation Stage to Key Stage One. The Year 1 curriculum builds upon and extends the experiences that children have had in Reception. Learning through play will continue to be an important part of the school day. The children will gradually be eased into more formal learning as the year goes on so that they remain motivated, enthused and eager learners. We have a welcoming, cosy reading area as well enhanced provision trays to practically reinforce new learning each week.
Learning and Enhanced Provision in Year 1
In year 1, we love to learn and explore through play. We setup activities, games and challenges in our outside area for the children to access after their lessons. These create valuable discussions, spark the children's interest and develop independence.
Please ensure that your child comes to school every day with their planners so we change books as frequently as possible.
Please don’t hesitate to come and see me, either before or after school, if you have any questions or queries.
