New Starters to Reception Class in September

WELCOME!

A big, warm welcome to any child who is starting Reception in September. We know how important this step is in both your child’s life and your life. Therefore, it is our aim to ensure that we make the transition for your child into school a very happy and safe one, despite the unusual times we are faced with at the moment.

Each year we hold several events to help you and your family get to know us at Havannah before the start of the school year in September. These include Stay and Play sessions for your child in Reception, a Cheese and Wine Information evening in the school hall just for you - the parents, and Home Visits to introduce ourselves to your family and have 1-1 time to ask any questions. Things this year are a little different of course, but please don’t worry! We will be in touch very soon with some activities and ways of finding out about each other. Please keep a close eye on the New Starters 2020 part of the school website for any further updates. Take a look at our PowerPoint presentation at the bottom of this page which may help support you further in the transition to Reception. Very shortly we will email the information packs and the registration forms out to you at home.

You might be wondering what you should do now and what steps you can take to help your child get used to the idea of Reception. Have a look at the PowerPoint Presentation which will hopefully provide you with a little more information and ideas of how best to prepare your child. There are still several months before your child starts school though so try not to worry. We appreciate it is a very uncertain time but rest assured, we will do everything we can to make the transition for your child the very best.
